Freebie Delivery Template
A 4-email sequence to deliver a lead magnet, add value, and introduce new subscribers to your paid offer — without feeling salesy.
Use this sequence when someone opts in to receive a free resource — a template pack, checklist, mini-guide, swipe file, or short email course. The goal is to deliver the resource immediately, add value in the days that follow, and introduce your paid offer naturally when trust has been established.
When to use this template
- A contact submits a form on your landing page to receive a free resource
- You want to follow up with useful content before mentioning any offer
- You have a digital product, course, or membership you'd like to introduce within the next 5–7 days
The sequence
Email 1 — Freebie delivery
Timing: Immediately on form submission
Subject options:
- Here's your [freebie name], [First name]
- Your [template/checklist/guide] is ready
- [First name], download link inside
Body:
Hi [First name],
Here it is:
[Button: Download / Access your [freebie name]] or [Direct link]
[Optional: 1–2 sentences on one thing they should do first or the most useful part to start with.]
Over the next couple of days I'll share a few ideas that go with this — no fluff, just things I've found actually work.
If you have any questions, just reply.
[Your name]
Goal: Get the resource in front of them immediately. Keep this email as short as possible — they're here for the download, not the copy.
Email 2 — A practical tip to use alongside it
Timing: Day 2
Subject options:
- One thing that makes [freebie name] 10× more useful
- The step most people skip
- [First name], add this to your process
Body:
Hi [First name],
Yesterday you got [freebie name]. Here's something I wish I'd known when I started using [the approach / this method / this tool]:
[Share one specific, actionable tip that extends the value of the freebie. Think of it as the "missing piece" — the thing not in the resource that makes it work better. 2–3 short paragraphs or a numbered list.]
If you try this, let me know how it goes — I'm genuinely curious.
[Your name]
Goal: Establish trust and demonstrate that you're invested in their success. This email shouldn't mention your paid offer at all — it's purely about value.
Email 3 — From freebie to outcome: a story
Timing: Day 4
Subject options:
- What happened when [outcome from using your approach]
- [First name], here's what this actually leads to
- A real example (not a case study)
Body:
Hi [First name],
I want to share something more personal.
[Tell a brief story: either your own experience using the method/approach in the freebie, or a subscriber/student who used it and got a result. Keep it to 3–4 short paragraphs. Be specific about the before, the action, and the after.]
The reason I'm sharing this: [1–2 sentences on what it means for the subscriber — what becomes possible when they consistently apply what they downloaded].
If you're ready to go beyond [what the freebie covers] and [describe the outcome of your paid offer in plain language], I made [product/course name] for exactly this.

[Your name]
Goal: Connect the freebie to the bigger outcome your paid product delivers. The story makes it feel real. The offer mention should feel natural — a next step, not a pivot.
Email 4 — Soft close
Timing: Day 7
Subject options:
- Still here if you need me, [First name]
- Last note for now
- One more thing before I go quiet
Body:
Hi [First name],
This is the last email in this short series.
I hope [freebie name] gave you something genuinely useful to work with. If you've had a chance to use it, I'd love to hear how it's going — just reply.
If you're ready to take things further, [product/course name] is the next step:
[Link: Learn more / Enroll]
Either way, you'll keep hearing from me — I send [frequency] [emails/newsletter] on [topic]. Happy to have you here.
[Your name]
Goal: Close the freebie sequence gracefully. Contacts who aren't ready to buy now should feel good about staying subscribed — you want them to stick around for the long game.
Implementation in FlowNurture
Workflow trigger
- Create a Landing Page in FlowNurture with your opt-in form
- Set the workflow trigger to Form Submitted → select your freebie opt-in form
- Add a Tag Contact action immediately:
lead-magnet-[freebie-slug]— this tracks which freebie they received
Separating freebie subscribers from welcome sequence
If you also have a general New Subscriber Welcome Sequence, you have two options:
Option A — Run freebie delivery instead: In your welcome sequence workflow, add a condition at the start: skip to Email 3 (story email) if the contact already has a lead-magnet-* tag.
Option B — Run both in sequence: Let the freebie delivery run first (4 emails over 7 days), then enroll in the welcome sequence when it ends. Add a Tag Contact action at the end of this workflow: freebie-sequence-complete → use that as the welcome sequence trigger.
